Lithuanian Golf Federation has a new President

Lithuanian Golf Federation (LGF) board meeting has unanimously elected a new president – Česlav Okinčic – a lawyer who is a signatory of the Lithuanian Restoration of Independence Act, member of the Vilnius University Council. Mr. Okinčic has already been involved in the activities of LGF – he has been an ambassador for Lithuania’s golf for several years and was actively involved in promotion of golf. He is a passionate golf player and enthusiast of this Olympic sport.

The newly-elected president highlighted key issues that would help to grow golf in Lithuania – identifying and establishing new accessible golf training areas and facilities in urban areas, in cooperation with municipalities, attracting funds from the EU and private sponsors, increasing the level of international competitions in Lithuania, participation of the Lithuanian National Team in the European and World golf championships.

“We will continue our successful projects, such as the Lithuanian Junior golf in Schools Championship, and will seek new opportunities to develop golf in Lithuania, with the help of best practices from other successful golf countries. In order to this, we will invest in improving our relations with the federations of the neighboring countries and will seek to increase the role of LGF in international golf organizations. We believe that this will help to attract European or even world championships and will help to develop golf in Lithuania. “- says Č. Okinčic.

Č.Okinčic has replaced Rymantas Juozaitis, who has been in charge since 2015 and who has resigned from this position due to personal reasons.

“There are a lot of business issues that I have to focus on now. I’m not turning back from golf and maybe after a few years I will be able to return to promoting golf more actively, but now I have to step back but we will definitely meet in golf competitions and golf events. I wish all the best to the new president, because there are still many challenges in Lithuania that need to be overcome. I am confident that Česlav will manage to do so, as he will have a well-formed team to work with for the upcoming years. I know that I give the Federation into good hands, “said Rymantas Juozaitis.
